My Story

I found out that I was pregnant in February '07. We were so happy!! I had my first ultrasound at 14 weeks. Everything looked good so they say. At my 5 month ultrasound, they noticed that my fluid was a little low but they didn't seem concerned. I was transfered to another doctor. They noticed something wrong right away. They didn't know exactly but they thought it was something terminal. They asked me if I wanted to terminate. That was not an option. So, they started doing weekly ultrasounds. They noticed something wrong with her heart. They determined that she had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. The specialist said that could be fixed but that wasn't all we were dealing with. They determined that she had no kidneys. It's a syndrome called Potter's Syndrome. They did a Cordocentesis on me which is where they draw blood from the baby's cord. Nothing was genetically wrong with her. Her DNA came back as male. The doctor said that she had no chance of survival.
