Obituary for Maxine W. Smith

Maxine W. Smith, 80, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2009. She was born June 30, 1929 in Weston, Vermont. She graduated from Black River Academy in 1947. Maxine married Howard E. Smith, of Windsor, Vermont on September 2, 1950. She retired from AMCO Credit Union in Windsor, Vermont after 29 years of service. Maxine was very active in her community, serving as dispatcher for the WWVF fire department and belonging to numerous social organizations. She and Howard retired to Las Vegas in 1989. Maxine continued part-time employment in an antique shop and office. Her passions included spending time with her family, antiquing, card playing with “the ladies” and pampering her Shitzu, Tibet. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Marian Warren and brother, Donald Warren, all of Ludlow, VT. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Howard Smith and children, Nancy (Tony) Issa of Las Vegas, Gregory (Charline) Smith of Ascutney, Vermont , Brenda (Ben) Manfre of Las Vegas and grandchildren, Shane Smith of Orlando, Fla, and Nicholas Issa , Stefanie Issa and Kyle Manfre, all of Las Vegas and Josh Sanderson of Woodstock Vermont..

A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11^th at Desert Spring United Methodist Church, 120 N. Pavilion Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89144, (702)256-5933. Interment will be held at a later date in Vermont. Donations may be made in her name to WWVF Fire Dept, PO Box 85, Brownsville, VT 05037 or “Heaven Can Wait” Animal Sanctuary, PO Box 30158, Las Vegas, NV 89173. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends in Las Vegas as well as those in Vermont.
