Mildred grew up in Brooklyn New York, the only child of Rose and Bernard Riepp. She loved to read poetry and listen to opera. She attended New York University. She was dedicated to her husband, Louis Singer, and was married for 70 years. She maintained a lovely, clean home. Cooking delicious food was important to Mildred, and she prepared a three course meal every evening. With Louis, she traveled around the world after he retired. She dedicated herself to being a mother and this was the most important role in her life. She wanted to have her only daughter, Sheila Steiner, at her side in her last months. Sheila and Nolan Steiner moved to West Palm Beach from Michigan, for seven months to be close to her, and to assist her and Louis Singer as they transitioned into Assisted Living. Mildred was a dedicated wife and mother. The headstone she chose in 1980 reads "Mildred Singer, Mother." I can still remember watching, "I Remember Mama," on TV with my mother. I have shared this movie with my girls as well. I will always "Remember Mama." (written by Sheila Steiner) |
