My Story

Myles was born in Offaly, Ireland in 1938. He was brought up in Clara, Offaly along with his parents and brothers and sisters.
As a child, Myles was involved in aspects of Irish sport, and was part of an Irish hurling team. Myles was also a very keen boxer and had a high interest in the sport of boxing, which he was more interested in during his later years. He was responsible for his son William and daughter Jane becoming amateur boxers for the local, but famous Finchley Boxing Club, where Myles was a very avid and identifiable member. Myles travelled the length of the country with the Club and with William and his coaches to watch William box. he attended most of William's fights, unfortunately died before William went to box for England in Las Vegas. Myles also never got the opportunity to watch as Jane became the first female to box for Finchley Boxing Club.
Myles was in the trades and worked on building sites in both Ireland and England. Myles done all aspects of work, including underpinning and machine driving, which he completed diligently.
Myles became a father at the age of 26, to his first daughter Josephine. He then had his first son Myles at the age of 28. His second son, Martin was born when Myles was 33 and Myles' second daughter Imelda was born when Myles was 38.
Some time passed before Myles had two more children. Myles' youngest son William was born when Myles was 50 and Myles' youngest daughter Jane was born when Myles was 51.
Myles moved to England where he lived for a while with his wife and first four children, before moving to Barnet and having his youngest two children witrh a new partner.
Myles celebrated St Patrick's night on the 17th spetember 2008 with his partner and his daughters' friends Sean and Amanda in the Weavers bar in Barnet.
Myles died at the home he shared with his partner and two children. He had a very peaceful passing and dies of the condition Coronary Artery Thrombosis. He died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday 18th March 2008.
Myles' funeral took place on Thursday 3rd April 2008. Myles had a very wonderful send off and had attendants from the Finchley Boxing Club and friends and family from Ireland at his funeral. Myles also had a choir from Bishop Douglass School, the school which Jane attended. Myles' funeral was held in Mary Immaculate and St Gregory the Great catholic church in Union Street, Barnet. Myles was then cremated in New Southgate Cemetry and Crematorium in Brunswick Park Road, New Southgate.
