My Story

Pa Herbert Adekunle Olowoniyi was born on 29th June 1939 to proud parents Stephen and Lucy in Kaduna Nigeria. He was one of six children. His sister Ethel is the remaining sibling living in Lagos. Pa was raised and schooled in Nigeria and continued further studies as an adult in London. In London he met his spouse Mary where they got married. Pa and Mary arrived in Hamilton Victoria, Mary’s hometown after a brief stay in Nigeria sometime in the 70’s where spent 15 years of his life serving the community in his field of training (Nursing). Pa was the first African to live in Hamilton and was hard to miss in the little community.

Nursing was Pa passion and he was good at it, as he was a real people’s person who really did care and that was the way a lot of people got to know Pa. Herbert came to Melbourne to do a course at the Austin hospital where a job became available and he jumped at the opportunity to work in Austin hospital and later towards his working period moved to Bundoora Extended care where he spent the largest part of his career additional 20 years of service. Pa Herbert loved his friends and making them was never difficult for Pa, he also loved and enjoyed their Nigerian parties and great food. He enjoyed having part of his Nigerian culture and country people with him.

Pa was survived by Mary (spouse), Joshua (son), Wade (son), Tracy (daugther) and grand childrens

MAY HIS LOVELY SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE .
