Marion R. L. Wright, 72, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008.
Born Sept. 17, 1935, in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Leroy Wright and Mamie Kennington Wright. He was married to Betty Cook Wright. He was retired from Springs Industries and was a newspaper carrier for the Charlotte Observer and Rock Hill Herald. He attended Taylor’s Grove Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Richard Wayne Wright and his wife, Robbie, Michael Odell Wright and his wife, Lorraine, Roger D. Wright and his wife, Joyce, and Benjamin “Benny” Wright and his wife, Barbara, all of Lancaster; a daughter, Cynthia Diane Hendryx and her husband, Steve, of Lancaster; four sisters, Pauline Humphries, Margaret Langley, Virginia Gin Roof and Gladys Rollins all of Lancaster; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Ray Wright; and two sisters, Dean Hornback and Doris Mangum.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Robert Alford and Steve Neal, with burial in Taylor's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
