My Story

Born on the island of Antigua, Reverend Lester Bowers is best described as a true Caribbean man. He served the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas, in Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Montserrat, Nevis, St. Maarten/St. Martin, and the Virgin Islands.

In January 1995, Bowers was ordained to Christian Ministry after completing four years of theological training at the University of the West Indies, and the United Theological College of the West Indies, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and Diploma in Ministerial Studies.

In 2000, he went on to pursue higher education at Emory University Candler School of Theology where he completed the Master of Divinity with a concentration in Pastoral Care and Counselling and the Master of Theology with a specialisation in practical Theology and Religious Practices.

Upon his return to the Virgin Islands, Reverend Bowers has served the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College as college counsellor, and spearheaded the establishment of the newly commissioned Student Success Centre of which he was recently appointed its Director. Throughout his ministry, he has demonstrated a passion for youth, and human development.

Unapologetically Methodist and unashamedly Christian, Reverend Bowers was committed to the Great Commission of the Church throughout the world to take seriously its mandate to “go into all the world” and proclaim the Good News. Reverend Bowers was named as one of the top four best preachers in American seminaries by the National David H. C. Read Preacher/Scholar Committee, and is numbered among a select elite group of preachers who are invited to preach at numerous events across the United States annually.

Reverend Bowers is survived by his wife, Patricia Archibald-Bowers of the Virgin Islands (UK), and two children, Joey and Giselle Archibald Bowers.
