My Story

Born in Casey county, KY. on december 31,1924 .  Her father James Dee shell and mother may lue Thomas Shell.  She had four other siblings. Ralph , James Ray , Ethel and Rose.  She was the mother of three children , Shirley , James Murrell, and Dorothy. The wife of Robert " Bobby" Coffey.  She had 5 grandchildren . Shelia , Renae, Rodney , Shana and Natasha.  Ruby was a great grandmother  of 12 , and had several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Bourn ave. Church of Christ in Somerset, ky.  She was a home maker  and retired factory worker.   She was a fan of blue grass and gospel music.  Her favorite meal was chicken and dumplings and she loved barqs rootbeer.  She loved clocks and bells and collected many.  In her prime she was an extremely hard woker. while growing up, she would take care of her siblings . After getting married and having her children she continued with her work ethics.  She worked outside the home as well as tend to the family farm.  When her age finally caught up with her and body brittle she still continued to do for herself and others to the best of her ability.  She never wanted to be a burden and she tried her hardest to do for herself what she could.
She loved her family with all of heart. Each and everyone of them. She loved her children and admired them all . She had special relationships with each of them and that she valued. Her son she said was thoughtfull and  kind. She enjoyed time spent with him. she looked forward to his nightly phone calls with him and would let you know right away if it was time she was expecting  her call.
She always wished the best for him and wanted him to take care of hiself.
Her first born daughter she admired greatly. She loved her strength and  knowledge and had great respect for her and her opinions.  She counted on her her for many things and she trusted her greatly.  I recall her saying " your first child is allways special "
The relationship she had with her youngest child was a protective one. She tended to worry about her and want to protect her even when she was know longer a child. She was proud of her and wanted the best for her.
She had such love for all of her children. These few statments doesnt come close to love a mother has for her children. She was proud of each of them. Her family truely was her life.
Being one of the five grandchildren i couldnt have asked for a better grandmother. There was never a time when i needed her that she wasnt there.  From the time i could crawl she has been one if not the most important person in my life.  She loved all of her grand children and always spoke foundly of us all. I am thankfull i had her in my life for 27 years.
She loved us all ... children, grand children, great grand children, brothers , sisters , nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors . I hope we always remember  what it was to be loved by her.
