My Story

Jason "Shredder" Hernandez was born on September 24th, 1984. By his name you would be surprised to know that he was a phenomenal guitar player. He could shred and riff the guitar like it was the thing to do everyday. He would be sometimes the first person into My Friend's Place and he would immediately sit down at just start jamming and picking at his guitar. However, there is more to him than just his guitar.

Shredder was a kind soul to everyone he ran into. He could read who you were or what your intentions where when he first conversated with you. You could swear he did not have an evil bone is his entire body. Of course Shredder was part of a family that watched out for each other, but he was one of the most influential of them all. He made sure every person that was around him was taken care of. Even when he had nothing he stuck his neck out for people just to make them happy. He loved to drink with his friends and street fam whenever and wherever. It was like that was the one thing that made everything just go away when you hung around with him. Nothing else cared when you sat there and drank a 40 oz. of whatever the flavor it was at that time. King Cobra, 211, Lagunitas, or just about anything with alcohol was cool with him.

Even with all the drinking, smoking, and drama that was going around Hollywood at the time it really didn't matter to Shredder or any of his friends. It was like the world stopped when you were around him. No problems, no strife, no fighting, and no stupidity. When I was around him he made me feel like there was no care in the world and I could talk to him about anything. My kids, my family problems, and even problems that were going on between friends. He would give me some tips or even advice that made sense every single time and I always thought, "How come I never thought about that?" Even through alot of the hard times I had with stupid people, he would always be there to help me sort things out. It's hard writing his Eulogy, because he was such a good friend and a great mentor for many. He made sure that you understood that life wasn't so bad and that nothing was ever for granted. Sometimes when sat down with Shredder he would talk to you about things that really mattered. Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Shred or Die.

Music was Shredder's life and Heavy Metal was his shit. There was so much he could do and he even did shit that I never even saw my favorite guitarist do. Even people who didn't like heavy metal or even the guitar where amazed by Shredders abilities and how much devotion he had to his band, his friends, and his guitar. He went everywhere with his guitar, and so did many other people.

There are many things that Shredder has said to many people that have touched people in many ways. However, the thing that stuck with me the most was when I first met Shredder. We were talking about life in general and about my relationship at the time. It was going horribly and he had been there through some of me and my ex's fights. However, when I told him about the hardest thing that I went through in the relationship he told me like this,

Me (Ray): Dude what do I do about my problem with this broad?

Shredder: Why is it a problem?

Me: I don't know man it just seems to be getting worse every time.

Shredder: Are you letting it get worse, or are you just playing along with it?

Me: Trust me if I knew what was going on at this moment in time I would tell you.

Shredder: (laughs with a smirk) Well I guess bro you just have to figure out if it's you or them. Are you going to let them control you, or are you going to take it one step at a time to finish it.

Me: What about the end result?

(And this is what he told me that will forever stick in my mind)

Shredder: Fuck the end result, you have so much ahead of you. One little thing will not kill you unless you let it. Don't look to the past, look at what the future has ahead and go for that shit head on man. Now take another swill of the 40 man and lets forget about it.

Shredder will forever be a memory that will be in our hearts no matter what his friends and family are doing. His family misses him and MFP will forever remember his abilities and his loving and caring heart. He was just getting his life together, and then some fucked up niggas decided to take his life, because they had a grudge towards certain people. Well whoever the fuck you are, your a bitch ass nigga and you need to die. Fuck what you believe in and what you claim. WE WILL FIND YOU AND WE WILL OBLITERATE YOU. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT FAMILY YOU MESSED WITH AND YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH "SHREDDER" MEANT TO US.

He will forever be in my heart as a great friend and as a great mentor for what he showed all of us who cared to listen. And many people did. Shredder was an inspiration for everyone who he touched with his words and silence at times. Just to be around him was enough and we will miss him. SHREDDER YOU ARE THE SHIT MAN AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU AGAIN IN THE AFTERLIFE HOMIE.
