My Story

Steven Malloy Dixon was born on March 17th 1954 in Cincinnati, OH. He was brought into the world by Malloy & Marie Dixon, and welcomed by his older sister Kathleen. Throughout childhood, Steve was the typical boy - always living on the edge and looking for the fun and excitement in life, even if it meant getting scrapes and bruises along the way. He loved his high school days where he played football and ran hurdles in track for the Sycamore Aves. It is also where he meet many of his friends that he remained close to even today. Steve earned his bachelors degree in horticulture at the Ohio State University to pursuit his dream of working with turf management on a Golf course. He worked for Cincinnati Golf Management for 30 years, 20 of which were at Glenview Golf Course. As superintendent, Steve's hard work earned himself, and his golf course numerous awards and nominations around the country. In 1979, Steve met the love of his life and best friend - Kathie Quirk, and got married in September of 1988. Although he said he'd never have kids, their first daughter Andrea was born the fallowing year, and youngest daughter, Shelby came just a year and a half later. Steve put so much dedication and hard work into everything he did, not only in his career and family life, but also in the things he enjoyed. Some of his favorite things were painting, cooking, fishing, and above all the game of golf. In May of 2010, Steve was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer, that had metastasized to his liver, stomach, and lymph nodes. His will to live and fight to beat this nasty disease was nothing less than heroic and his positive outlook contributed to 7 additional months of life than doctors had stated in their prognosis. Steve is truely admirable and unlike anyone else, his quick wit and sarcastic humor that he still has today has always had people laughing and serves as a constant reminder that life should never be taken to seriously. He is truly a hero, and very, very loved.
