My Story

The Colors of our lives...

I used to sit and think how very different both our parents were... and yet, how they seem to compliment one another almost perfectly. The late Onumba Dibiaezue (Z.O as he was fondly called) lived a most useful life. From Police Inspector to the dizzy heights of Secretary, African Continental Bank and Chairman, Eastern Nigeria Development Corporation. The late Ukpabi Asika implored him to help rebuild the then East Central State of Nigeria, after the Nigerian civil war, as Commissioner of Finance. My late father was one of a kind, prosperous and fulfilled. He was the native gentleman, schooled and definitive. Self-made in the original sense., he was a Barrister-at-law and a London trained economist, working nights to pay his way through school and still put food on the table for three growing kids and an adorable wife..

And he got for himself, a companion that defined exquisite, our mother. The harder the pressure bore, the cooler she became. Our true woman of substance... and she bore for him four kids. She was dignified, graceful and wise... there is only one word to describe her personality that fits-awesome. She was our mother and we'll miss her lots. We've been missing Pops a long time now, even as we celebrate two lives, well led and well lived.
