I was in my 10th grade History class at Downey High School when a new boy came into the room. He was so handsome, dressed in really nice clothes ( Ivy League shirt, cord pants & very nice shoes). His hair was combed just how I liked it. I told my friend who sat next to me, "Forget Elvis, I'm gonna marry him"! Little did I know at the time, he felt the same way when he saw me.
We began to date and I found out that those nice clothes he wore were not his. They belonged to his older brother. He wore them to make an impression on someone who he might meet. It was me, of course, and it worked! We were married 1 1/2 years later at the tender age of 17. We have been together what seems like most of our lives.
There is something I'd like to say to all husbands and wives. We never know when one of us will be called home, away from our lives here on earth and out of our reach. If your like me, you probably don't go there in thought too much. I really believed that I would have my sweet Bill into our really older years and that was my hope, always.
It's so important that we let one another know how special they are to us and how much we appreciate them. It's not just saying "I love you". It's SHOWING it by how we treat one another. I KNEW how much Bill loved me. He showed it every day. He KNEW how much I loved him. I showed it every day. He left me with no doubts of his devotion and love. A wonderful husband or a wonderful wife is a gift.
I was given a gift when a young man wearing Ivy League clothing walked into my high school History class.
